Kozhikode flash floods: Body of one more youth found

Kozhikode: A rescue team on Monday recovered the body of another youth, who along with five other men had gone missing following flash floods in a river near Kuttiyadi. The identity of the victim was not immediately known.

The youths were part of a nine-member group who had gone to take bath in the river at Pasukkadavu near a forest zone. All the nine, hailing from Koothode in the district, were washed off in the flash floods following heavy rains.

While three of them – Vineesh, Amal and Jishnu - were rescued, body of Rijeesh was recovered on Sunday. The missing youths are Vishnu (20), Vipindas (21), Aswanth (19), Shine Shashi (19) and Akshay Raj(19).

Youth drowns, five others go missing in river in Kozhikode It is learned that the youths, who were sitting on the banks of a canal near Poozhithodu hydel power project, were washed away as water level in the river rose suddenly following heavy rain and landslide in the forest.

Police and Fire and Rescue Service personnel on Monday continued the search for the four missing persons. Local people are also helping in the rescue operations.
