Don't worry Kerala, there's cash in ATMs now
Thiruvananthapuram: Officials in Kerala Monday started filling ATM counters across the state with cash a day after most of them ran out of currencies due to the back-to-back bank holidays.
A Manorama News report said that there will be cash in all the ATMs by Monday noon.
The Kerala government had Sunday asked the State Level Bankers Committee to ensure availability of currency stock at respective ATMs in the wake of five continuous bank holidays in the state.
State intervened in the matter through the committee and instructions were given to controlling officers of all banks to refill the ATMs if they ran out of cash, an official release said.
Banking sources had also said that they would conduct checks in ATMs and take necessary steps to refill the currency.
Most of the ATM counters by national highways had turned empty by Sunday noon.
Banks in the state are closed since Saturday till September 14, due to the Onam festival and Bakrid.
